Hi, I'm Malik Abdul Kawee
I build high-performance, secure mobile apps end-to-end — from NFC hardware integrations and IoT control to real-time energy platforms and banking apps.

Engineer behind the apps
I'm a Senior Mobile Engineer with over 7 years building high-performance, secure and scalable applications. My core stack is React Native, TypeScript, Kotlin and GraphQL, and I've spent the last few years going deep on the hard parts of mobile — NFC integrations, IoT device control, and real-time energy solutions.
I've led app setup and architecture from scratch, engineered native modules for hardware-level communication, and hardened apps with SSL pinning, code obfuscation and root/jailbreak detection. I care about reliability, security and clean delivery — and about mentoring the people I build with.
Currently leading mobile at Evert, building the customer and installer apps for a modern energy-management ecosystem.
Where I've worked
A track record across energy, fintech, banking and roadside-assistance products — from Android developer to principal engineer.
Evert — Senior Mobile Engineer
Nov 2024 — Present- Led setup and development of Evert's Customer and Installer apps in React Native & TypeScript with React Query and Socket.IO, focused on performance, reliability and robust testing (Jest, RN Testing Library).
- Engineered NFC-based communication to read/write PMUs via native modules and react-native-vision-camera for hardware-level interactions.
- Strengthened security with SSL pinning, code obfuscation, and root/jailbreak detection across native and React Native layers.
- Mentored junior developers and oversaw task assignment, improving team efficiency and delivery timelines.
NorthBay — Principal Software Engineer
Mar 2023 — Nov 2024- Led a squad to ensure timely, efficient delivery; ran code reviews and cross-team requirement alignment.
- Built robust apps with React Native, TypeScript, Context, Storybook and HookForm — fast, secure and privacy-respecting.
- Contributed to a large-scale product initiative with 150+ team members across 8 countries.
uPage — Senior Mobile Engineer
May 2022 — Mar 2023- Architected and launched the pk.page app from scratch with a focus on performance and modularity (React Native, Redux, GraphQL, Apollo).
- Designed a fully dynamic form module that saved significant cost and streamlined data collection.
- Established the mobile engineering foundation and shaped the product roadmap.
DPL — Mobile App Developer
Apr 2019 — May 2022- Built and enhanced 4 CarPal apps for digital roadside assistance using React Native, Google Maps and background location tracking.
- Delivered the Parsley app (React Native, Redux Persist, Axios).
- Integrated Firebase, Sentry and multiple payment platforms (N-Genius, Apple Pay).
Evamp & Saanga — Android Developer
Jul 2018 — Apr 2019- Engineered MEW Pay, a smart-metering app for Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity & Water, using Kotlin, MVVM and RxJava.
- Maintained and improved the Orange RoamKit application for performance and reliability.
DawahSoft — Android Developer
Feb 2017 — Jul 2018- Built the Khaadim Android app using Java and Firebase, delivering stable, maintainable releases.
Projects I'm proud of
A few products that show the range — energy IoT, banking, roadside assistance and smart metering.
Evert Installer & Customer Apps
Two apps for an energy-management ecosystem — installers configure PMUs over NFC, customers monitor and control IoT devices with real-time energy consumption, EV charger control and V2G/V2H power backup. Built for seamless hardware integration and high security.
Project-C — Virtual Bank
A virtual banking app for one of the largest banks in the Middle East. From opening an account to ordering cards and making transactions in just a few clicks — performance-oriented and secured for customers.
CarPal — Roadside Assistance
A digital roadside-assistance solution built over 2 years with a team of 8, operating across the MENA region and serving thousands of people in times of need. Built with redux-persist and Google Maps with a strong focus on security.
MEW Pay — Smart Metering
A platform for Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity & Water letting users monitor electricity and water consumption, enter meter readings and control bills. Built on MVVM, RxJava and Data Binding for a reactive, scalable codebase serving thousands.
